Calligraphy educator and type designer (1870 - 1951)
Hermann Delitzsch was a calligraphy instructor at the Leipzig Academy, while Walter Tiemann served as its rector and a type designer for the Gebr.-Klingspor foundry. Under their tutelage, Tschichold became a master pupil, received his first commissions, and developed the foundational calligraphic skills that distinguished him from other typographers trained in architecture or fine arts .
